Projects of UN
District administration of Gorakhpur under the aegis of Government of India for enhancing the disaster resiliency of district had joined hands with UNDP for carrying out projects related to disaster management. The very initial project was from 2005 till 2009 on Disaster Risk Management (DRM) programme of UNDP, which led to the establishment of Emergency Operation Center (EOC) in Gorakhpur & further from 2010 till 2012 on Urban Risk Reduction (URR) programme of UNDP. Finally after the establishment of DDMA-Gorakhpur in 2011, it got entrusted with all the roles & responsibilities of district administration concerned with disaster management according to the DM Act, 2005. Also, DDMA Gorakhpur currently is working on a project in collaboration with UNICEF for enhancing Disaster Risk Reduction & Climate Change Adaptation in Gorakhpur by focusing on the children & women.
