1. Central Government Gorakhpur Railway Station

Gorakhpur    is    the headquarters  of  the  North  Eastern Railway    Zone   having  computerised reservation  facility  since  1st   Jan.   1990 . The  first  railway  line linking  Gorakhpur was opened between Sonepur to Mankapur on 15th  January,1885.  Since then,  the railway  lines have increased  manifold. Today Gorakhpur stands linked directly with long  distance  trains to  the states' capitals of  the country - Delhi, Calcutta, Mumbai, Chennai,  Bhopal, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthpuram, Guwahati, Ahmedabad  and  Jammu. The most important train is 'Buddha  Parikrama  Express',  linking   Buddha's  holy  places  of Kushinagar, Sarnath, Rajgir and Bodhgaya.

Established   in  the   year  1984,   it   is  the  2nd  Doordarshan  programme  organising  and commercial service centre in Uttar Pradesh, first being   the capital Lucknow.

Established  in  the  year  1974,  it  is the 2nd   News  Broadcast  Station  after Lucknow Radio Station. The  morning  news  is   being  broadcasted  from  the   Gorakhpur radio station while evening news from Lucknow.

It is under the Central Air Command , Allahabad. Here, flying  training of Jaguar Fighter planes is being imparted.

It is the recruitment and pension disbursement centre for the Gorakha Regiment.

        Divisionsal office headed by an Asstt. Collector of Central Excise is located at Gorakhpur. The district Gorakhpur, Deoria Kushinagar, Mahrajganj alongwith the Basti, Gonda and Bahraich are under the same division. This department is responsible of assessment and collection of central excise duties on items like Sugar, Fertilisers,jute , khandsari etc. enforcement of Gold Control Order is also an important duty performed by this unit.
